Climate Change

What is climate change?

To understand climate change, we must first know the difference between climate and weather. The weather is temporary and changes from day to day. You can use terms like sunny, snowy or rainy to describe the weather of the day. On the other hand, the climate describes the typical weather conditions for an entire region based on observations for a long time, for example, 50 years.

Climate change refers to the steady variation in the average climatic conditions for a region. The most significant effect we are experiencing is that the planet gradually becomes warmer every year, experiencing frequent and more intense storms, droughts, and floods. If we don’t act, the effects of climate change will be severe, impacting everyone around the world.

Climate change is directly linked to human activities, specifically, the activities that release harmful emissions into the atmosphere.  Everything we do and every product we consume has a carbon footprint value. Understanding the carbon footprint and the measures we can take to reduce this value will ultimately help us fight climate change.
